The first project that we ever did at Jerusalem Children’s Home, in January of 2018, was to build bunk beds for the children. The local police department in Bombardopolis saw the bunk beds that we had built and then went to the director, Reedson Maurancy, and asked him if he thought we would be willing to make bunk beds for them.
During the July 2019 trip, we did a project where we built two sets of bunk beds for the police department. We were able to streamline the building process and make much nicer beds with much less material, once we knew the product we were working with. It was very hard to build the bunk beds that first time because we didn’t know what type of wood and other materials would be available in Bombardopolis. In addition, we learned the police station had no place to sit and have meetings or have meals together; and being that they live in the barracks, it was important that they be able to. We were able to find a good deal on a table and chairs that we also donated to the local police department.
